This is not exactly Hardy Boys-esque, but Chris Cooley just may have solved the mystery of who broke into his Leesburg pottery “Cooley Gallery.”
For those of you that missed the back story, Cooley’s gallery was broken into last week. His wife, Christy Cooley, told police that the pottery on display was untouched, but a cash-register had been stolen.
The deal was he smashed through the front door. I guess he was intoxicated. He left blood all over the gallery. He went in and took a computer and the cash register – left finger prints everywhere. He figured out the computer was just a computer and not a safe, so he smashed that and left it [and then] walked out the back alley way.
If I learned anything from C.S.I., it means that this guy left about four different kinds of DNA samples behind. That’s more than enough for Robert David Hall in the crime lab to secure an arrest.
But, of course, the story gets better:
He made his way to the front steps of the Leesburg courthouse, which has the only video surveillance in the area. Sits down. He smashes the cash register 6 times before he succeeds. Before he gets all the money picked up, he passes out.
Power nap time.
He slept for about 15 minutes. Continued to pick up the money, left some change, left all the debris and and stumbled off.
From the sounds of it, this guy should be fairly easy to track down, especially considering he allegedly broke into another shop down the road.
On a football note, Cooley has been dealing with a lingering knee problem for all of training camp and the preseason. While he has seen the practice field this week, he’s been limited in practice so far.
This morning on the radio show, he was coy in his initial response to his status for Sunday’s game against the Giants:
Our injury statuses are now referred to Coach Shanahan.
Shanahan just announced that Cooley was questionable to play Sunday.
However, when pressed from a fantasy football angle, Cooley imparted The Junkies with a bit of advice for Sunday:
Well, how much do you like me? If you consider me your friend, you should probably have faith in me and leave me in.
Not sure how much weight that carries, but clearly Cooley has his mind set to playing on Sunday.
