Vote For Redskins-Giants On The American Forces Network

Posted by Brian Tinsman on September 6, 2011 – 5:32 pm

In truly democratic fashion, the American Forces Network allows Facebook users to vote on the NFL game of the week that will be broadcast to soldiers, sailors, airmen and women, and proud military personnel around the globe.

This week, this Sunday, and throughout the year, take every opportunity to thank them for the courage and sacrifice that they’ve made so we can worry about depth charts and division matchups.  It doesn’t matter what your personal beliefs are, because these people don’t discriminate in who they protect.

Also, in honor of the members of Redskins Nation that are stationed overseas (especially on a day remembering the tragic events of nearly a decade ago, especially in a game between New York and Washington), please take a second to vote and make the Redskins-Giants game available on AFN.

This is a little taste of home for these men and women, and it’s sincerely the very least you can do.  At last count, the game had slipped to fourth in the voting.

Vote for old DC!

I’m stationed at Ramstein Air Base Germany and I would love to see the game live on Sunday… I love the Redskins and I was in when 9/11 happened… HTTR!!!

Awesome job Brian. Unfortunately, was a tad late it seems. Voting looks to be closed for this week. Not sure about the timezones that are listed. Definately appreciate you putting it out there though!

I’d be suprised if the game wasn’t shown anyway though because of the 9-11 anniversary. From the way I understand it, AFN shows the games for each time slot that will bring it the best ratings as well as 1 other game that fans vote on.

    Brian Thanks for the support.

First the Bad news- The Ravens Fans beat us for the week one voting. I’ll personally take that hit, as It was I who posted the link that AFN later stated was ineligable This left us only about 8 hours to catch the leaders. The Ravens Steelers got about 350 Votes to our 130 (Final posted tallies got screwed up by about 30 votes each when they finalized). If I had known about the link issue I’m certain we’d have got about 2000 plus votes and walked away with the win. Anyway votes for week two start this Sunday.

Now the great news. The AFN programmers chose the Redskins -Giants game anyway (The Fans get to pick just one of the five-six games a week – AFN programmers pick the other 4-5). Wish AFN had set the proper guidance out at the start of this – (Unfortunately for the energetic the Bills Sergeant up in Ballad – the Bills got screwed).
