Hightower Calls On Inner Super Hero

Posted by Ross Leonhart on August 15, 2011 – 5:01 pm

On the practice field, Tim Hightower wears his white jersey with burgundy lettering, just like all other Redskins on offense. But, it’s what’s underneath of his jersey every practice that makes him stand out.

This summer, Hightower started something new; wearing a shirt recognizing his inner super hero: the Green Lantern.

He wears it everyday under his pads; now as a reminder of his past.

As you may know, the Green Lantern is a hero that possesses a ring and lantern that enables him control over the physical world, dependent on his willpower.  Imposing his will is a skill that a Hightower is improving on.

“Many times in my past I’ve thought myself out of things,” he reflected.   “I’ve worried myself, and let a lot of things get in the way.  It’s a reminder to keep my mind on the positives and not let the negatives get in the way.”

“It’s just a reminder every time I put it on everyday, just to remember where I was at that point.”

It sounds like this running back is focusing his efforts on winning another kind of ring.

Say what you want about the guy’s fumbling propensities, but he’s a breath of fresh air on a team that has for too long put up with slackers and primadonas…he’s gonna light up some very run suspect defenses in the NFC East this year. Luv a guy that delivers the blow instead of taking it. HTTR!!!!
