Injury Forecast Is Mostly Cloudy
Posted by on August 14, 2011 – 7:47 pmThe Redskins have been fortunate to avoid any major injuries (knock on wood) to this point, but remain cautious with a few key players that haven’t seen the playing field in a while. Head coach Mike Shanahan had the scoop on the group after practice today.
On Ryan Torain: ”He’ll see the specialist tomorrow and get a better feel after he talks to the doctors and see what they recommend.”
To me, this is neither optimistic, nor terribly excited for the man who entered training camp as the top option at running back. Certainly an opportunity presented itself with the Hightower acquisition, but I’m not positive that Torain is a lock for the roster anymore if he can’t recover quickly and perform. Read more »

Farewell Shayne, We Hardly Knew You
Posted by on August 14, 2011 – 1:52 pmIn a move that became less of an “if” and more of a “when” after Friday night’s game, the Redskins have announced the release of Shayne Graham this morning.
Head coach Mike Shanahan said going into the game that the Graham duo would be alternating opportunities on field goals, extra points and kickoffs. In his two field goal opportunities, Shayne punched the balls wide left and wide right, respectively.
When that rotation ceased in the third quarter, the writing was on the wall.
After the game, Shayne was one of the first players off the field and didn’t hang around the locker room to chat. To be fair, I checked with long snapper Nick Sundberg to make sure that nothing had happened on the snap to alter the kicks. Read more »

A Much-Deserved Day Of Rest: A Twitter Recap

Yesterday’s day off was just that sort of day, and Redskins took to Twitter to chronicle their relaxation.
Ryan Kerrigan and Terrence Austin spent some time reflecting on the team’s performance the night before:
