Tonight, the Redskins will unveil their newly renovated home, complete with a new skyline and solar panels in the parking lot.
The new official capacity of FedExField is 85,000 seats, still making it (comfortably) the largest stadium in the NFL (sorry Giants and Cowboys). The removal of seats in the top ring of the stadium will allow for Party Decks to be installed in the upper level.
Here’s is a panoramic shot from the upper level:
The Redskins have also installed a significant portion of the 8,000 planned solar panels in the parking lots. This will not only help to create a green stadium, but also provide protection from the elements for 850 parking spots.
Not a bad deal:
Speaking of the elements, it’s supposed to be gorgeous tonight for the game against the Steelers. It is currently 85 under clear skies, and will drop down to 66 overnight.
In your player programs, those numbers belong to new Redskins Leonard Hankerson (No. 85), Chris Chester (No. 66), and Chris Neild (No. 66). I think it’s a sign.
I am so ready for tonight.
Here’s your field of dreams:
