Redskins Must Wait To Unveil New Secondary

In addition to the Cooley being ruled out for Friday, we learned  from head coach Mike Shanahan that there is no timetable for LaRon Landry’s return.

The offseason addition of Oshiomogho Atogwe was supposed to solidify a somewhat porous secondary.  Atogwe has sat out of practice the last couple days and Landry has yet to see the field.

“You keep on hoping that with the rehab and the way they’re out there working on the field, that it won’t take long,” he said in his post-practice press conference.  “When [he] feels like [he’s] able to play, we’ll take him off P.U.P. and have them compete and get some playing time.”

This development makes the Reed Doughty signing even more valuable and logical.

At what point should we as fans start to worry about LaRon being healthy?

I agree with Rich, I guess that’s why he didn’t get a big extension yet considering it is his last year under contract.

The skins knew they needed to address their secondary in the off-season, and they brought in Oshiomogho Atogwe to do exactly that. He will combine with LaRon Landry to form the strongest safety combo outside of Bernard Pollard and Ed Reed.
