Special Teams Are Looking Graham-atically Sound
Posted by on August 5, 2011 – 2:30 pmStill no actual kicking from the pair of kickers today in practice. The competition rages on.
Still no punter, or Sav Rocca, but we didn’t really expect him until Monday.
Shayne Graham handled the duties of throwing the ball back to the Jugs machine today during punt drills and does not have good throwing form or a spiral.
No emergency quarterback duties for him.
Shayne also shared some of his thoughts on the kicking competition with Gano. Apparently the two have known each other for years and actually worked out together this summer, so a comfort level exists.
“We get along great,” he said. ”Y’know, coming out here and not getting along with someone is kinda pointless. The only control over the kicking position is what I do, so being resentful of each other or spiteful is just–one, it’s immature, and two it’s unprofessional. We’re both professionals. So I think we’re gonna compete and do well, and the best man wins.”
Sounds like a gentleman’s competition.
In other news, Brandon Banks sat out for the third straight practice after tweaking his surgically-repaired knee. Stuck in a crowd at receiver and returner, Banks will have to show that he can stay healthy to crack the roster.
