The parking lot at Redskins Park was full, so I parked outside with the fans for the first practice open to the public Saturday.
Walking through the lot just outside the gate, I couldn’t help but notice a gigantic granite coffee table:
Meet Daniel Pruitt (left) and Matthew Mallard (right) with their piece of fan art creation.
Pruitt and Mallard met years ago in the restaurant business, but now run Stone Accents in Marble and Granite, located in Frederick, Md.
This granite coffee table with the Redskins logo is something the two worked on in their spare time.
“It’s pretty unique,” Pruitt said. “There’s only one of these in the world that I know of.”
I’d never seen anything like that before, but I want it. Who’s it for?
“We’re hoping to give it to a player,” Mallard said.
Well there went my chance at it. I would definitely need Redskins coasters for that coffee table anyways.
“No. It’s all granite. It’s sturdy. It’s durable. It’s easy to clean,” Pruitt said. “You’re not going to ruin it. You’re not going to stain it. You’re not going to hurt it. I mean, you can basically do anything to it beside hit it with a hammer and it would be fine.”
Keep up the good work guys. I hope they’re smart enough to make some more!
