Armstrong Shows His Leg, Gano Shows Arm

Posted by Brian Tinsman on July 29, 2011 – 9:30 am

After a session of offensive and defensive repetitions, the squads broke for work on special teams.

There is no punter at practice this morning, so the punt return group took “kicks” from the Jugs Machine as special teams coordinator Danny Smith coached the players up.

Returners Anthony Armstrong, James Davis, Shaun Draughn, Keiland Williams, Niles Paul, Ryan Torain, and Evan Royster participated in the drill.

Kicker Graham Gano served as the designated person to throw the ball back to the assistant running the machine.  He displayed poise and a nice fluid throwing motion.  Not 100 percent on catching the flip from the returners though.

Rather than flipping one pass back to Gano, Armstrong kicked a perfect spiral pass back to Gano.  He said then said, to the surprised Gano: “You liked that, huh?  I did coach soccer, now!”

Check out the exchange on video:

    Hey Stephen and Dan-

You got it. Had a limited chance to grab video this morning (coach’s restrictions), but I’ll be all over it tomorrow. Thanks!
