The Two Sides of Niles Paul
Posted by on June 8, 2011 – 1:52 pm
It’s not very often that a fifth-round draft choice comes with as much intrigue as Niles Paul. We learned that he is the nephew of former-NFL running back Ahman Green. We learned he’s a budding male model (train-tracks and all). And perhaps most importantly we learned that he’s a talented, self-motivated football player.
But sometimes that drive and motivation is based on deeper emotional scars that fuel the fire. The Washington Examiner’s John Keim wrote an excellent piece on how the memory of his late mother, Marjorie Paul, continues to motivate Niles: Read more »

A Brief Update On The Construction At FedExField
Posted by on June 8, 2011 – 12:26 pmAs the renovations on the upper deck of FedExField continue, a brief photo update.

As you can see, the interior looks much like it has for the last few days. The seats are still absent. Outside, the cranes have arrived. It’s not quite clear what they’re doing yet, but they’re there. More updates — with more details — in the coming days and weeks, and more pictures after the jump.

A New Decoration In The Redskins Park Lobby
Posted by on June 8, 2011 – 11:24 amIt’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything about the interior decorating in Redskins Park, but the new image that was hung on the wall yesterday is definitely worthy of note. (Click to enlarge.)
That’s the group of Redskins alumni gathered in the end zone of FedExField prior to the “Homecoming game” against the Colts from last October, and there’s a bunch of things to like about the photo.
- The assortment of guys, plain and simple. It really runs the gamut, from Ted Vactor to Larry Brown to Pat Fischer, to Charley Taylor to Bubba Tyer to Doug Williams to Darnerian McCants, with plenty of guys in between. And they all look happy.
- Also looking happy? Bruce Allen, the architect of the day, off to the right there.
- It looks terrific in the lobby in its glossy frame (apparently by CSD Sports Framing), and it does a great job of being ABOUT the team’s sepia-toned history while still being OF the full-color present day.
- I like this plaque at the bottom, also, because I’m a sucker for Deco-style fonts.

But my absolute favorite thing about the picture is kind of tough to spot. Read more »

LaRon Landry Is Still In Shape
Posted by on June 8, 2011 – 6:01 amWe haven’t seen much of safety LaRon Landry this offseason. In the case of some players, this might make you wonder about their conditioning and general fitness. I mean, it must be tough to maintain a football player’s build in an uncertain offseason like this one. You could lose muscle tone, put on fat … the list of dangers is endless, really.
If I’m being honest, though, Landry isn’t really one of the players I would’ve worried about, and he tweeted some pictures last night that validate that faith.
Y’know, I eat plenty of Greek yogurt, but somehow it hasn’t had quite the same result.
“Holdem back!!!” he tweeted a bit later.
So, yeah, Landry doesn’t seem to have spent the offseason playing Xbox and drinking McDonald’s new frozen strawberry lemonade things. After the jump, two more pictures, just in case you’re still skeptical.
