When you think of Hall Of Fame Redskins, Will Montgomery probably isn’t the first name to leap to mind. The versatile offensive lineman is still playing, for one thing. And — although he did start the final five games of the 2010 season — his name hasn’t really been mentioned in Hall Of Fame consideration just yet.
On the pro level, at least. But this past Sunday, Montgomery actually was named to one Hall Of Fame: the Fairfax County (Virginia) Football Hall Of Fame. And, really, It’s an undeniable honor to be recognized; Montgomery joins Cowboys tight end Jason Witten, Broncos receiver Eddie Royal, and plenty of other familiar names.
To celebrate the occasion, here’s the 2010 highlight video Redskins.com TV put together to be played at the ceremony. (Yes, this is a Will Montgomery highlight reel, and, yes, it’s soundtracked with Enter Sandman in celebration of Montgomery’s college days at Virginia Tech.) Enjoy, and congratulations to Will Montgomery.

This past weekend wasn’t just any Saturday/Sunday combo. No, this pair of days was annexed by the Worldwide Leader In Sports — they just climbed to the top of it, stuck a flag in, and declared it ESPN The Weekend. Personally, I spent ESPN The Weekend taking my kid to a 24-hour pediatrician that had a Chris Cooley-themed exam room, but I think the branding is actually meant to apply to folks making the trip to see the athletes and ESPN personalities who fill up Walt Disney World in Orlando for The Weekend.
And one of the athletes who made the trip was Redskins great (and NFL Hall Of Famer) Darrell Green. Which is how this happened:
On the whole, the Orlando portion of ESPN The Weekend looks like it was a heck of a lot more fun than the pediatrician’s office portion, despite the Chris Cooley theme.
