Images From Redskins Super Bowls Past

Posted by Matt Terl on February 4, 2011 – 5:22 pm

The Redskins aren’t in the Super Bowl this week, obviously. But Super Bowl weekend still seems like a good time to look back at some pictures from the times when they were — and I was fortunate enough to come across a few Redskins Super Bowl photos — mostly AP photos — that I don’t believe I’ve ever seen before. When the kind folks at Redskins.com TV read the piece, they were kind enough to dig up this bit of NFL Films footage about what legendary narrator John Facenda calls “the black-and-blue ballad of Big Sam and the hangman.” It’s one of those a-video-is-worth-ten-million-words kind of things. Enjoy.

Hail! Gets Hirsute For The Super Bowl

Posted by Matt Terl on February 4, 2011 – 9:36 am

This week Hail! writer/artist Ben Ceccarelli debuts Cartoon Casey Rabach, albeit in bearded form. What’s remarkable about this bit of caricature is how much it still looks like Rabach while ALSO looking not unlike Captain Caveman from the old Hanna Barbera cartoons. That’s some impressive work by Ceccarelli.

As always, click the first panel or the Read More link to see the rest of the strip.
