DeAngelo Hall In Hawaii
Posted by on January 26, 2011 – 3:19 pmDeAngelo Hall is doing a video diary of his trip to the Pro Bowl for Comcast SportsNet. To be honest, this first episode isn’t the most dramatic internet video in history, but if you want to see a Redskins player arriving in Hawaii with his family while thanking the fans for the honor … well, here you go.

The Equipment Logistics Of The Pro Bowl
Posted by on January 26, 2011 – 1:50 pm
This photo was taken last week; as you can tell by the big red number 98, those are Brian Orakpo‘s pads, and they’re sitting on those shipping boxes waiting for official word that Orakpo would be playing in Sunday’s Pro Bowl. The Pro Bowl coaching staffs include the equipment crews, and there are Hawaii-based equipment guys, but the players do wear a lot of their regular gear under those gaudy Pro Bowl jerseys.
I asked Redskins assistant equipment manager Anders Beutel to explain what, exactly, a guy going to the Pro Bowl means to them. Read more »

Brothers Of The Legacy, Part 3
Posted by on January 26, 2011 – 12:25 pmIn today’s installment of the Brothers Of The Legacy documentary, Sonny Jurgensen and Sam Huff continue to play at a Hall of Fame level, and their peers offer up testimonials to their awesomeness. Plus, an entertaining retelling of Huff (and the Redskins) humiliating the Giants for trading him; Huff’s visible glee — even all these years later — at the firing of Giants coach Allie Sherman cracks me up every time. “He talks about it every day,” Jurgensen says, and he’s not lying.
I think the high point for me, though, is the play-by-play guy calling Jurgensen’s first game against the Eagles. Not only does he repeatedly refer to the quarterback as “Jurgy,” but he unleashes this SportsCenter-esque description of a pass: “Sonny hurls a honey to Bobby Mitchell, and it’s touchdown, Washington!”

Mixed Reviews On Jake Locker
Posted by on January 26, 2011 – 11:24 am
Everyone seems pretty convinced that the Redskins are paying close attention to Jake Locker at the Senior Bowl. There are reports that Redskins scouts “made a beeline” to talk to him on Monday, and even Gary Fitzgerald at the Redskins.com mothership has Locker listed as one to watch in Mobile.
So it seems worth noting that Locker’s performance is receiving pretty mixed reviews so far. And I don’t mean “mixed reviews” in the sense of “people are saying that he’s so-so”, I mean that — just like in my example of 2010 Selvish Capers — different reviewers are seeing wildly disparate things in Locker’s game.
Here are a few examples: Read more »
