Keiland Williams Is Not Satisfied

Lost in the drama of how the game ended — along with everything else that was not about the benching of Donovan McNabb — was the fact that Keiland Williams actually acquitted himself pretty well. Between his work on third downs and his work in relief of the injured Ryan Torain, Williams rushed the ball 6 times for 25 yards and a touchdown, and added 3 catches, albeit for an unremarkable 3 yards. The stats aren’t all that notable on the surface, but Williams contributed when the team needed him.

So, in Tuesday’s open locker room before the team dispersed for the bye week, I asked Williams how it felt to score his first NFL touchdown. Read more »

Redskins Cheerleaders In Afghanistan, Plus Other Links

An absolutely terrific video covering The Washington Redskins Cheerleaders’ visit to the X Bowl at Bagram Air Field in Afghanistan. After a Madden Football tournament presented by the Adopt-A-Soldier Platoon, the USO, and several other partners, the First Ladies Of Football put on a lengthy show, including singing, dancing, a push-up contest, and more. It’s really worth just watching the video.

The video also does a heck of a job clearing up any doubts about how important something like this is. It may seem frivolous on the surface, but, as the narrator says, “Those attending the X Bowl said it was a great morale booster in the midst of deployment,” and you can see that in the response the ladies get.
