Kyle Shanahan Clarifies Things

After his press conference today, Kyle Shanahan took a few minutes to clarify his head coach’s (and father’s) comments from yesterday regarding the benching of Donovan McNabb. Much of this clarification is similar to my interpretation of the elder Shanahan’s comments from yesterday, which makes me feel clever, but it’s still very much worth posting these as well.

Rex Grossman On His First Play In Detroit

Kyle Shanahan was asked today how difficult of situation it was that Rex Grossman found himself in on Sunday. “That was a real tough situation,” Shanahan said. “I think it’s tough for any quarterback You’ve got — I think it was — 1:46 left, down six, need a touchdown, no timeouts, and playing on the road versus a good pass rush … it was extremely tough.”

And there is no doubt that Shanahan is right. It was a tough situation to begin with … and then the play actually started.

It's 2010 Team Picture Day

Because, you know, there’s not enough else going on, the 2010 team picture was taken this morning. I’ll have plenty more later today about the ongoing (but hopefully resolved!) Donovan McNabb benching saga, but let’s start the posting day with something a little lighter: some snaps from the team photo shoot.

A few things worth noting:

First, the gold pants are being immortalized. I suppose this makes them The Official Pants of the 2010 Redskins, in case they weren’t already.

Second, notice Clinton Portis‘ cap in the bottom left of the picture above. Sadly, he was forced to remove it for the actual photo.

Third, this event provided a chance to see a lot of practice squad guys and a couple of preseason stars in the gold pants, which was kind of neat. For example, here’s your first look at RB James Davis in a Redskins gameday uniform.

Also, it was just a gorgeous (if brisk) morning, so burgundy and gold and green grass and blue sky just looked terrific.
