Bring School Supplies To Training Camp

Posted by Matt Terl on July 31, 2010 – 2:40 pm

A quick reminder for those coming to the open practices at training camp, via the Redskins Charitable Foundation:

DON’T FORGET TO BRING YOUR SCHOOL SUPPLIES!

The Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation in partnership with World Vision – National Capital Area, is holding a “Stuff a Backpack” School Supply Drive from now until Saturday, August 7 to collect new school supplies to help families in need get their children ready to start the school year.

To participate, review the list of suggested school supplies below and come down to Redskins Park on the Training Camp open practice days between July 29th and August 7th to donate your items.
Fans unable to come to the Park can also participate by dropping off new supplies at any of the 10 metro area Redskins Retail Stores. A collection box will be visible and clearly marked “Redskins & World Vision” inside the stores for your convenience. All the school supplies collected will be “stuffed” in backpacks and distributed throughout the Washington Redskins market to children that could otherwise not afford to purchase new school supplies.

The school supplies being collected are:

  • Pencils (wooden #2 unsharpened)
  • Pens (medium point blue or black)
  • Pencil sharpeners (double barrel with canister)
  • Erasers (large pink beveled)
  • Rulers (12″ plastic with inches and centimeters)
  • Glue Sticks (0.28 oz, dries clear)
  • Filler Paper (100 sheets, wide-ruled)
  • Pencil Cases (10″ x 5″, zipper, with 3-hole grommets)
  • Folders (2 pocket, assorted colors)
  • Colored Pencils (12-count package)
  • Highlighters (yellow, chisel tip)
  • Spiral Notebooks (1 subject, wide-ruled)
  • Crayons (24-count box)
  • Binders (3-ring,1″ – 2″)

Fans unable to attend one of the Training Camp days or wish to make a secure monetary donation, cash or checks will be accepted both at Training Camp or fans can go online to http://www.worldvision.org/StuffaBackpack. A $25 donation will provide one underserved child with a backpack stuffed with all the school supplies he or she will need!

Donations may also be sent to World Vision c/o “Stuff a Backpack” School Supply Drive, P.O. Box 70384, Tacoma, WA 98481. All funds collected will be used by the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation and World Vision – National Capital Area to purchase new school supplies for elementary and middle school students at targeted Title I schools in the greater Washington, DC metropolitan region.
