Lorenzo Alexander And Kedric Golston's Bike Ride Was A Success

Well, it’s been almost 48 hours since I wrote about Lorenzo Alexander doing something good for people, so this seems like a fine time to mention that Alexander and Kedric Golston‘s charity bike ride this past weekend was a success.
“It was a great event,” Alexander said after he returned from his 35 mile ride. “We had a good turnout for our first year, had about 75 riders out here. It was good — community coming together to help for the cause.”
Alexander was covered in sweat (as you can see above) and had clearly not taken the 35 mile ride lightly. “I had two women that pushed me the whole way,” he explained, “and I’m tired. I felt sick at the end — they were riding fast, and I haven’t been riding that much this offseason.”
The two women were Sue Leo (left) and Linda Perry (right), who had won the chance to ride with Alexander in a raffle held before the event, and –despite having winded an NFL player — Perry explained that she was relatively new to cycling. “I just got my bike in April,” she she said. “I do other things like yoga and spinning and tennis and golf, though.”
Still, Perry didn’t deny that the pair had helped to keep the tempo brisk during their ride. “It was a nice pace,” she allowed. “We made him work for it.”
In addition to Alexander and Golston, linebacker Rocky McIntosh rode, as did local media types Kelli Johnson and Mike Wise.
And offensive lineman Edwin Williams showed up and signed a few autographs, although he didn’t actually ride anywhere. “Oh, man,” he said, “don’t mention that. My excuse was that I didn’t have a bike, but they do have extras. I knew they did.”
He gave a sheepish shrug. “I’m not really a biker,” he said. “But I feel kinda bad that I didn’t now, and I’m definitely gonna do it next year, regardless of where I am — I’m gonna be here on this day. But I’m gonna do ten, though. I don’t know about that 20 and 35.”
And it’s likely that he’ll have the opportunity, as Alexander seemed pleased with the results of the day. “Me and Kedric love to do this,” he said. “It’s one of our passions. So we decided to try to use our celebrity and our passion to bring the community together to raise some money. Most people have a bike — or if they don’t they can get one — and come out, get active, get healthy all at the same time while they’re giving back. It’s a good combination of everything.”
