Larry Johnson On Alumni Day
Posted by Matt Terl on June 17, 2010 – 5:20 pm
As one of the foremost NFL historians on the Redskins, running back Larry Johnson was understandably enthused by the presence of Redskins greats on the sidelines at today’s practice.
“It kinda reminded me of when I played 75 pound ball and the 115, 135 pound stars at that time used to come and watch us play,” he said. “You kinda got giddy, a little bit, because you knew that those were The Guys, and that they’d been in your situation before. So it was fun for me to come out and have all those greats come out and watch us practice.”
There were two guys that Johnson was especially looking forward to sitting down with at the post-practice events.

Alumni Day At Practice
Posted by Matt Terl on June 17, 2010 – 3:37 pmWell, it wasn’t the weather that distracted from practice today. It was Art Monk. And Pat Fischer. And Clint Didier. And Bobby Mitchell and Charley Taylor and Larry Brown and Mark Moseley and on and on and on. Bruce Allen invited the Redskins alumni to come back to watch a practice, and the alumni turned out in droves.

“A great day for the Washington Redskins,” Allen called it. “A special time, to bring back not only the legends of the game, but some of the architects of the Washington Redskins that our fans have loved over the decades. You got to see some great people, and it’s wonderful to have them here.”

Oh, and Shanahan mentioned “architects” of the Redskins? He wasn’t kidding.

A Quick Roundup Of Recent Moves
Posted by Matt Terl on June 17, 2010 – 9:03 am
There’ve been a few recent moves that I think I’ve only mentioned on Twitter, so — in anticipation of a busy mini-camp day with Redskins alumni in attendance — let me do a quick reset to make sure that everything’s been covered and we can all agree who is on the roster and who isn’t.
- Rocky McIntosh has signed, and was present for yesterday’s abbreviated session.
- LaRon Landry was present for yesterday’s shortened session, but, according to coach Mike Shanahan, “his toe is still a little bit sore” and he’s not expected to practice today. Should be ready to go by camp.
