When I wrote yesterday about Clinton Portis’s enthusiasm for running the kids through drills at Donovan McNabb‘s football clinic this past weekend, I worried (as I often do) that I wasn’t properly conveying the LEVEL of that enthusiasm.
Fortunately, Emmy Award-winning Redskins Broadcast Network producer Megan Imbert had Portis miked up for a chunk of the day, and she was able to cut together this video. It shows pretty unequivocally that, nope, I wasn’t conveying the level of enthusiasm at ALL.
Some highlights, for those of you without the patience to watch two whole minutes of Clinton Portis gold:
- The video opens with Portis reiterating his feeling that sharing a field with Eagles players in the offseason isn’t as unusual as fans might be inclined to think.
- Which is fortunate, because at about 0:38, we get to watch Portis demonstrate drills with Eagles fullback Leonard Weaver. (That’s Weaver in the stylish boonie hat.)
- And at 0:58, Portis starts handing out push-ups. And push-ups. And push-ups, a montage interrupted only to provide Portis with an occasion to explain why he doesn’t like practice. Then? More push-ups are dispensed.
- The highlight of the entire video, though, comes at 1:58: the miked up chest bump.
So, in summary: Clinton Portis? Pretty good with kids.
