Chris Draft, Children's Book Author And Linebacker

When you’re a professional football player, you expect to be dissected in any number of publications and on any number of websites.

Just to give a few examples, you’re going to have your game performance dissected in Sports Illustrated and on the various ESPNs. Your statistics are going to be broken down by the guys at Football Outsiders and Pro Football Focus and Smart Football and whatever other football statgeek sites I’m forgetting. Your facial hair will be analyzed by the DC Sports Bog. Your girlfriend will be ogled on Deadspin and The Big Lead. You will be turned into a hilariously profane caricature on Kissing Suzy Kolber.

All of that and more comes with the territory. But most football players probably don’t get written up in the Children’s Book Review Corner of Super Kids Nutrition dot com.

Then again, most football players don’t see the world quite like Redskins linebacker Chris Draft. Read more »

Coach Clinton Portis: The Video

When I wrote yesterday about Clinton Portis’s enthusiasm for running the kids through drills at Donovan McNabb‘s football clinic this past weekend, I worried (as I often do) that I wasn’t properly conveying the LEVEL of that enthusiasm.

Fortunately, Emmy Award-winning Redskins Broadcast Network producer Megan Imbert had Portis miked up for a chunk of the day, and she was able to cut together this video. It shows pretty unequivocally that, nope, I wasn’t conveying the level of enthusiasm at ALL.
