Look, I’m impressed by any Redskins room. Devoting an entire room in your house to your favorite team … I mean, that’s a sign of a dedicated fan. (And, often a dedicated fan with a tolerant spouse.) But as with anything in life, there are levels. And I think we can all agree that Denny in Manchester, Md., is at or somewhere near the top level when it comes to Redskins rooms.
Here’s Denny’s description of his room — which includes the single awesomest detail ever in the history of Redskins rooms:
We live in Manchester, MD in the heart of Ravens country, about 10 minutes from where they hold training camp….so we get abused A LOT. But we are proud.
Almost all the photos, helmets, footballs and jerseys are signed. Everything from a Hogs Brew beer and 1983 SuperBowl Coke bottle to football cards from the 60′s. I made the bar myself and the bar top is glass with Redskins great football cards underneath, except for the huge stack of Heath Shuler cards that are used as coasters.
In case you glossed over the detail, let me call your attention to it in paraphrase: Denny has constructed a custom glassed-in bar-top with Redskins cards underneath, but uses Heath Shuler cards as coasters. When you’ve found a way to convert even the less-than-positive memorabilia into an integral part of your Redskins room, I think that’s an unmitigated success.
As always, send in pictures of your Redskins Room. I’ll continue to run some of the best of them here — and maybe get them onto Redskins Nation on Comcast Sportsnet as well.
