Congrats To The Caps

Posted by Matt Terl on March 30, 2010 – 1:29 pm

After the Caps clinched the Eastern Conference title on Sunday, according to the blog of Washington Capitals owner Ted Leonsis, Redskins owner Daniel M. Snyder sent a note “and a nice little something as congratulations.”

Leonsis continues:

Dan and his family are very generous and his gesture is very much appreciated here at our offices. I am hopeful to repay the kindness next season to the Skins. “Hail to the Redskins.”

One of the great things about the DC sports scene is how the local athletes all seem to root for each other and attend each others’ games and charity events (as with the Caps at FedExField in Redskins jerseys, pictured above, along with a billion other things), and it’s good to see the owners getting in on the fun as well.

Also, on a personal level? I look forward to repaying the “thank you for congratualations on a conference title” blog post kindness. I don’t think I can adequately describe what a pleasure that post would be to write. Until then, though, I’ll just join in the chorus congratulating the Caps and looking forward to their playoff run. See The Final Cheerleader Auditions This Thursday

Posted by Matt Terl on March 30, 2010 – 9:50 am

If you’re looking for something to do this Thursday — and who isn’t, given that 30 Rock has been kinda meh this year — you can head to the Bethesda Theatre for the final round of audtions for the 2010 Redskins Cheerleader squad. Doors at 6:30, show starts at 7:30, tickets are $15.00 for general admission and $25.00 for VIP.

If you don’t want to read my detailed rundown of last year’s finals, here’s the short version: the squad’s been working together for awhile, paring down candidates until only the most talented 40 are left. That final cut-down comes on Thursday, after an event that falls somewhere between dance routine, beauty pageant, and reality show.

Or, for the even shorter version, here’s a Redskins.com TV promo video.
