Chris Cooley, Anchorman

Posted by Matt Terl on February 1, 2010 – 3:47 pm

It’s been a surprisingly quiet offseason for Chris Cooley. His Twitter account vanished for a bit, his blog (as I write this) hasn’t been updated once in 2010 … aside from a chat on NFL.com and a corresponding appearance on NFL Network, he’s been almost mime-like.

Apparently that’s going to change this week, as Cooley joins Chad Ochocinco’s OCNN venture for the week running up to the Super Bowl.

To be perfectly honest with you, I didn’t pay much attention to OCNN when Ochocinco announced it on his Twitter, and his further announcement of the addition of Cooley, Ray Rice, and Darnell Dockett similarly failed to make an impression on me.

But if this Motorola press release that just showed up in my inbox is to be believed — and when has a press release ever steered you wrong? — this could actually be an entertaining little Super Bowl week stunt.

Redskins Broadcast Network: The Legacy

I know there are a lot of people reading this who aren’t in the D.C. area, or who don’t know when and where to find the Redskins Broadcast Network programs that are produced here at Redskins Park. For example: this week on Redskins Nation the RBN documentary “The Legacy” is being aired in segments, but that doesn’t do some of you much good.

So we’re posting it on the web as well. You can see the first segment — a look at Sammy Baugh and Sonny Jurgensen — above, and one segment a day will be added to this page at Redskins.com.

Now, you may be asking, what is “The Legacy”?

Monday, February 1: A Pro Bowl Weekend

Posted by Matt Terl on February 1, 2010 – 10:26 am

I used to be a relatively big fan of the Pro Bowl, possibly the only one in the world. It was the last gasp of football for the year, and thus something to be treasured no matter how mediocre it might be. And it usually wasn’t all that mediocre; the rule changes more or less guarantee a high-scoring game, and by the fourth quarter the players have realized that — financially, at least — they’d like to win, so the game turns competitive.

Last night, though, I just couldn’t get into it. I don’t know if it’s the move to before the Super Bowl (which removes the whole “last gasp of football” thing) or what, but after watching some of the early touchdowns, I pretty much tuned out.

(As it turns out, I was apparently alone in this feeling; excellent ESPN PR guy Bill Hofmeier reports via Twitter that ratings were up 39% last night. Go figure.) One person who definitely didn’t tune out, though? London Fletcher.
