A John Riggins Photo Gallery

These photos all come from a disc labeled “Riggins Slides” that turned up while sorting through a stack of CDs without cases today. At least one of the images is iconic — the pointed mustache headshot below — but most of the rest were unfamiliar to me and worth sharing.

By now we’re all mostly familiar with this pointed handlebar mustache photo:

But these photos also include several of the stages along the way between clean-shaven and fully mustachioed, including this one:

And this one, in which he looks eerily like Robert Sean Leonard from House (albeit with an early-stage mustache growing in).

And then there’s this interesting facial hair/hat combo.

And this much more famous look.

But it wasn’t all funny hats and strange hairstyles for Riggins. There was that whole Hall-of-Fame-running-back career also.
