Redskins vs. Broncos - Fourth Quarter Thoughts

Intern Jay summed it up as he set off for the locker room: "Two words," he said. "Much. Needed."
That's about all there is to say. The Redskins ran the ball, scored points, and -- shock of shocks -- won. I'll have more later; now it's time to go down to locker room and post-game interviews. Which should be happy, for once this year.

Thank goodness that Orakpo took Orten out of the game and that Hunter Smith can pass.

This is what I get for not having lost faith. Job well done, gentlemen. We turned great plays into a win. Can we turn this win into momentum?

I agree....never give up! What you saw today were Redskins who practiced together this past week and came out to play! Guarantee you that Portis will be okay Monday...his job is on the line as it should be. BETTS is playing great football! Portis may make a great trade in the offseason! Hopefully we can replace DeAngelo Hall also...yes he had an interception, but he cannot cover or TACKLE!
Kudos to the offensive line today. LEVI looks GOOD!

Offense- It is good to see some production out of the offense thanks to a solid run game and somewhat effective blocking, and a great second effort from those backs out there fighting for more yards....However, i am still not pleased with campbell over throwing wide open recievers for easy 1st downs, and especaily santana moss (who has been hurt the most by campbell poor play), when he over threw him for an easy touchdown!!
The Defense- It was good to seethat they get there acts together...however, we need better depth in the secondary especially at the saftey position who got beat several times deep ON THE SAME PLAY!!! The corner backs are not stepping up between Hall, Smoot and Rogers they are getting owned by every offense missing tackles, missing possible interceptions, and just blowing their coverage!
Special teams- it is great not to see Randle El catching punts anymore, but we need more progression and scoring out of the special teams to supplament an unstable Campbell offense. With that being said they truly saved the day with that touchdown throw! Great momentum booster and 4th down play!

Once the DBs got their heads out of their respective rears all in all a solid game. Mr. Cartwright and Mr. Betts deserve game balls for the win. Now that we've discovered one of the defective pieces one more obvious major defective piece to go. Perhaps Hunter the Punter should start as QB in those Dallasshole's Cowpattie's house.
Hope the momentum carries over when we play those scumbags. After having to take bite after bite of the crap sandwich this year revenge would be twice as sweet.
Once again great effort now BEAT THE COWPATTIES!!!!!

Re-sign Campbell because he is better than at least 15-20 of the other starting QBs in the league, draft a tackle in Rd 1, a RB in Rd 2, a Center or Guard in Rd 4 and O-lineman with the rest of the picks for depth and competition. We will be competitive next year, our offense has been much more productive these last couple of weeks, keep Campbell from getting decleated 10 times a game and you'd be suprised how well he can manage the offense, although his deep ball needs some work. It's not like it can't be corrected. Oh and re-sign Levi Jones, he did great today, I watched him effectively block to the second level.

I am still seeing what you are seeing in campbell. That game was won on the back of Bettis and good o-line play. F+++ the Broncos not in our house! Let's beat Dallas! Plath3 you can not build a superbowl camp around that guy. Although if Ingram the alabama back is availible. you have to take him over any QB so.... who knows. THANK YOU REDSKINS!

as a side-note...this is pretty indicative of portis' overall worth to the team. i saw betts and cartwright running fairly well, but not great, and contributing about twice as much as portis has this season.
mr. portis, you've been pretty good. but your production and your salary are weighing us down...a smart front office would thank you and send you on your way. i'm sure we'll see you around for quite some time.

Just heard Zorn's postgame. He said he would not consider making Bettis the starter.......I mean our running game is much better with him in there....does anyone else see that? Good teams know when to move on...wlly parker was in the pro bowl 2 years ago he is third on the rooster now in Pittsburg this is a what have you done lately league...you have to make decisions like that...not to say Clintons done with he just need to be more of the Bettis and Bettis need to get the most work.

ksshipe, my point exactly, it all starts with the o-line and the running game, no o-line and no running game mean NO passing game. I know Campbell isn't exactly P Manning, Brady, Brees, or a few others but he isn't that bad. I think his overthrows are due to being scared and running for his life, I fully admit though, that his deep ball sucks donkey, Moss was soooo wide open today. I have seen him miss the deep ball all season but he would be effective with a good o-line and fresh legs at RB. I think we are 1 roadgrader away from having a balanced attack. Im not sure but think randy thomas's contract is up after this year. I hope Samuels is able to play at least 1 more year. Again, Rd 1 = tackle, Dockery is solid, Rabach is average athletically (hence the frequent holding calls) but I hear the analyists always say he is smart, FA/Thomas, and Sign L Jones for RT assuming he finishes the year playing like he did today. Heyer is a servicable backup, maybe Rinehart will be a decent back-up. Mike Williams will get better and be a solid bench guy. Throw in a RB with breakaway speed and boom, an offense. Do that and Campbell is easily good enough, just look at Big Ben, big, great pump fake, makes decent decisions and they win. He isn't Brady or P Manning either. Also, has anyone noticed the plethera of offensive alignments lately, i like it. It's as much mental as physical in the NFL. I think Bingo Boy has actually helped.

Great win today filled with positives. We won, finally scored more than 17 points, Betts and Cartwright looked good (especially Betts), O-line performed great today. They were opening up holes for the backs and blocking well which of course helped out Campbell as well since he didn't get destroyed. Gotta work on the deep ball a bit but overall he looked good today. No more changing the O-line, keep it how it is and please don't let anyone else get injured. Defense started to look decent once they decided that they thought Marshall had enough fun for the day. Devin is starting to come along and impress me a bit too. I think Campbell and the young receivers should still spend some extra time practicing together when they can, it would definitely help their growth and relationship. Overall a very good game. As far as some things that may help improve further, I don't think they should exactly phase Portis out but they should alternate them more instead of just using Betts as a 3rd down back. Betts should definitely start above Portis but they should just have an overall better rotation. If the new O-line keeps playing how they did today then Portis will produce better (whenever he is able to return). Anyway I'm just hoping for more confidence and consistency now that they have broken their losing streak and it was a nice win lol. Keep the momentum, HTTR!

One swallow dont make a summer but what a treat. I shouldnt be surprised but back to Redskins Football doing what we do best.Run the ball with a guy who has practised that week. that was always the rule and prima donna Portis better look out. Betts can catch as well as run. I have been saying for some time that Portis is past his sell by date. Out with the old in with the new. These guys were trying, working as a team.
I hope DeAngelo Hall was watching Champ Bailey. Could we swap Portis back for the perennial pro bowler. What sort of business move was that.
This made my Sunday, Redskins beating Broncos, Packers beating Cowboys and Colts beating the Patriots.
I thought I was dreaming and would wake up to find Snyder had sold the team but no I wasn't dreaming we did beat the Broncos and it made my Sunday. Cant wait for Lavar Arrington to comment, that is if he manages to get to the right studio on time. His radio hosting is a little like his playing career he doesn't know where he is supposed to be but tries to make a big splash when he gets there.
I might just send the new compliance linebacker after him. You can't host a radio program from your cell phone.

Great Win!!! And you are right much needed. Then to have the cowboys lose right after the game was perfect......
All of the people trying to seperate the team into this guy helped us win and we don't need that guy...... The Washington Redskins won the game. The lost as the Redskins and they win as the Redskins.

Yes the Washington Redskins won the game....WITHOUT that lazy diva cancer Portis! His piss poor "I don't practice" attitute sets the work ethic for this team. Why shoud any of the other primadonnas exert themselves in practice? The sooner he's outta here the better.
Much Later!
