Your Starting Right Guard: Chad Rinehart

This is what I thought I saw during yesterday's practice, and it was confirmed today: Chad Rinehart will be stepping in at right guard in relief of Will Montgomery. There were rumors of this move last week; this week it's actually happening.

Rinehart spoke briefly to the media today, and -- like Levi Jones -- said more or less what you'd expect. Let's see if he hits all the same categories Jones did.

The "I'm Up To Speed" Thing:
"Just going out there everyday and trying to improve is the only thing I can concentrate on," he said. "Really just being comfortable and not really overanalyzing stuff, and playing football and being comfortable." Also, "I was kinda a little too timid in my pass sets waitin' for them to, I guess, do their technique versus me initiating the contact." And now, Rinehart said, he is "just kinda having tight hands and punching up and initiating the contact instead of waiting for the defensive lineman to make a move."

The "My Health Problems Are Behind Me" Thing:
Rinehart noted that his injured shoulder "feels fine, hasn't really affected me the last two weeks, so it's really a non-issue now."

The "This Week's Opponent Is AWESOME" Thing:
"[The Broncos] definitely play hard and they're pretty sound. They've been successful so far this season; they kinda turned it around from last year, so that's kinda just what their signature is this year. Obviously every team you play is going to play hard, but they're especially good at defense."

Rinehart didn't add any optimistic news like Jones did, but Coach Jim Zorn did note that Stephon Heyer didn't practice today and D'Anthony Batiste got work at right tackle, so that filled the "surprising" category.
