Redskins @ Falcons - First Quarter Thoughts

When was the last time I wrote an upbeat first quarter update? I miss those days. And sometimes there are, you know, non-terrible first quarters where there's SOMETHING good to focus on. This is not one of those first quarters. The only good thing that happened was a Rocky McIntosh interception. That's the positive. That's it.
Other than that, the first play of the game was an offside penalty against Albert Haynesworth. The defense gave away two first downs with two more offside penalties, these on fourth down; one of those led directly to a Falcons touchdown. Jason Campbell put a ball a little high, it bounced off of Fred Davis, and was intercepted by Tye Hill for a touchdown. Clinton Portis went down after a brutal shot to the head and got pulled out of the game, meaning that three of the team's four Pro Bowl players from last year are now out -- Mike Sellers needs to keep his head on a swivel.
In fact, everything went so badly that ONLY being down 14 after one quarter seems like a gift. This could be a very long day.

Hit somebody please. Hall and company you have five yards if you tag the guy (hit) they can't get the ball to them. Why give them 10 yds +. And what is it with all the shoulder tackling you were taught against that in peewee football.

Can we get some hope and at least change the coach. This is such a sad situation. Empty the white collars and bring in new ones.

Was that a sign I saw in the stands - "Redskins need a stimulus plan"? Guess they're OK in Atlanta. Are tee shirts ok at Gordon Biersch Tuesday at 6:00 - when they tape Redskins Late Night???

I see DeAnglelo Hall has "matured" - just like they said on Comcast! Should have been ejected.

Well the first half of their schedule was the "easy" half. Just when you think the Skins have hit rock bottom and it can't get any worse I guess today is a preview of what the tough half of their schedule is going to look like.

On the bright side, I saw a sign at the GA Dome that said FIRE VINNIE..I liked that!

If it weren't for my wonderfully gracious heart, I would have to say that this team is the biggest collection of underachieving prima-donna wannabe football players who seem better suited for sophomoric eastern auto commercials than the National Football League. But since I have such a big heart, I will only say," Go Skins!"

I thought if you hit rock bottom, you could not get any worse. Boy, I learned a lesson. I just don't get it. How can a team be soo bad? Campbell, man you are soo bad! I never hated anyone as much as Rogers. He is soo bad! Campbell gets hurt, which I am so fine with. Put in Collins on a 3rd and 12 and throw it behind line of scrimmage??? I thought Zorn was no longer calling plays! Stupid me, I realy thought since they have absolutely nothing to lose that today might be the day to turn it around. Bahahahaha, Bahahahaha!!!!!! What a Joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FIRE VINNIE! I love that. I've always kept saying, how do you just forget about the O Line? I really hope people watching this game can finally accept soon that Jason Campbell is not a part of the problem, it's those 5 guys in front of him who can barely get it done healthy (now it's just a disaster.) It's gonna suck at the end of the season when, his agent will probably score him a deal with a new a team that can actually protect him against a 3 man rush and then blows up and starts killing people in the passing game (or at least not wind up on his ass 10 times a game) That's a step back we CANNOT afford and if it goes down that way, it'll go down as Vinnie's most costly failure...wasting our young franchise QB by letting him get his ass kicked every game. HE CAN'T EVEN LOOK DOWN FEILD!!

nobody could play qb for the redskins with that horrible o-line i'm not a campbell fan and i think he isn't gonna lead us to anywhere, but we need a whole new o-line before any qb can be good there.
