Tuesday, October 27: Albert Haynesworth's Inspirational Post-Game Quotes

Albert Haynesworth is not exactly known for inspirational speeches. In fact, when the Redskins signed him this offseason, the main knocks against him were that he isn't a big effort guy, he takes plays off, and he's not exactly a leader.
Having watched him for about half a season now, I would completely disagree with the first assertion (he exerts tremendous effort), conditionally disagree with the second (exerting that effort does cause him to take himself out of the game), and the third ... well, that's complicated.
After last week's loss to the Chiefs, Haynesworth gave a thundering locker room speech that seemed meant to inspire and terrify his teammates in equal measure. It wasn't the classic motivational locker room oration, but it certainly displayed the kind of fire the Redskins are occasionally accused of lacking.
This week was ... something of a different story.
Instead of blood, thunder, fire, and fury directed at the team, this week Haynesworth talked to the media, and what came out was a sort of tone poem of abject disappointment. There's really not much to add to what he has to say here, and a lot of it will sound very familiar to some of the equally-frustrated fans here.
On if he gave a locker room speech today:
"Nope. I mean, you can't say but so much, you know? You gotta actually want to. So once we get to that point, to where we wanna do something, then we'll do something. But if we just keep going our separate ways, then we'll just keep getting slaughtered like we have."
On how he explains the team's inability to win games:
"I mean, this is one of the most talented teams I've been on, and just not to get it done is ... I dunno, shocking. And whatever happened, you go out there and play hard and then nothing really happens, you don't get a spark. I mean, the fans are losing interest -- the more games we play, the fewer the fans come. It's just gettin' ... it's gettin' bad. This bye week [is] comin' at a good time right now. Maybe we can come back and come back as a new team."
On what the defense can do for the offense:
"You look at it, our defense is playin', you know, pretty good, but we need to score more points, we need to do probably more givin' the offense the ball more, give 'em better field position. I mean, if we could put it down there by the goalline for 'em that'd be great. I mean, we just need to do more as a defense."
On how he feels right now:
"I'm feelin' lost, like I don't know which way to turn right now. Maybe this time off and go back to Tennnesee and hang out with my kids that I haven't seen for a while and ... just kinda figure out what we gotta do."
Not inspirational, no, but pretty accurate.

Seriously, in all fairness, kudos to Mr. Haynesworth and the defense for another solid performance. If we had even a remotely competent offense we would be realistically looking at 4-3 right now. Hang in there D.

The Redskins Defense is lousy. The offense smells like dog poop.

how can you say he has played well this season, hes got one sack and it came off an offensive lineman pushing him to the ground and he rolled into McNabb, so far Haynesworth has been worth maybe 2 million dollars and he has been taking plays off, every 20 minutes hes on the ground having his little air sucking moments

He (Albert) has played extremely well. Just look at Orakpo and Carter's numbers. 9 sacks between them. Why? Because Albert is taking care of business in the middle.

its obvious you havent watched a game all year and if your saying he no effective then explain to me how andre carter has more sacks at this point in time compared to how many sacks he usually gets for a whole year.Do you also thin Orakpo would have a rookie sack record and have almost 4 sacks in 7 games as a rookie if albert haynesworth wasnt there . Albert Haynesworth has and still is an effective part of our defense point blank period.

so i was a little off...my prediction: 23-3 final score: 27-17.
am i still a hater, or have you accepted reality yet? our team sucks. fortunately, i knew that after the barely-won rams game and the lions loss and haven't wasted one more second of my life watching this pitiful excuse for a franchise...
we don't have to win every game, we don't have to make the playoffs. no, for me to take my fan-dom off hiatus, we have to have an organization that has a coherent plan. i love this team...sell it, dan. you just don't have what it takes.

Time to remove Carlos Rogers from starting lineup. Does he do anything? How about Laron Landry = 7 games - NO INT !!!
Send these two SEC boys to bench.

Offense - Campbell must sit. Trade for someone and let Collins backup. Campbell must be traded soon. He is NOT NFL QB. I know line cant protect but some of those sacks are his responsibility.
Snyder since Skins will draft high ( presuming you dont trade down) focus on Offensive Lineman. More than one. Maybe first and second round. Heyer and Williams shouldnt be starting.

Special Teams - Do not let Randle El return punts rest of year. ENOUGH. 4th string WR. Cost us three points last night. Use Devon Thomas. Use D Hall. Use Santana - Not 82.
Also, Rock is nice player but not enough speed - Remove from KR. Let someone else WITH SPEED take over.

Big Al played a good game. He has done what he was brought here to do, but the rest of the team has not performed. We have breakdown all over the place. Fumble on special teams, reverses and long passes for touchdowns and Int. and fumbles on offense.
The guys looked like they played hard, but you can't keep making mistakes and win games. Maybe the week off will help the team. Anything is worth trying.

mayb zorn should call all the offensive plays except for the goaline stuff....i don't know...also we need to realease the whole damn o-line in the offseason except maybe dock...but then again he's just as guilty.
Hopefully next years training camp can be a Rough one so that they arent worried about injuring someone they are more worried about giving them the endruance to last a season....whip em into shape

Haynesworth was not brought in here to produce sacks. Hayenesworth was not a sack man at Tennessee either. He was brought here to tie up more offensive linemen so that others could produce sacks and he has done just that.

Last night when I saw Haynesworth on the bench with a trainer looking at him and i say "Is that Haynesworth on the bench" to which my wife replies "he's on the bench every week" it was hilarious.

Haynesworth has played great, hes stuffing the middle, swallowing up blockers and opening up sack opportunities for Orakpo and Carter. The defense has played well enough for the skins to win each game they've played for a majority of the year. But the amount of 3rd and 10+ first downs the D has given up at critical times is unacceptable.
At this point, there is no use in bringing back anyone from the offense with the exception of younger players, and cooley ofcourse. I wouldn't mind if we drafted offensive linemen with every pick next year, IT HAS TO START THERE. This franchise is getting thrown in the same conversations as the raiders... deservedly but come on. There is no turnaround waiting after the bye, and the years of mediocrity that is now just pure embarrassment is wayyyyy too stale for me. Please clean house in management, the offense, and anyone that doesn't want to be a Redskin. Change is what this team needs.

get garcia for the rest of the year let him learn are playbook the next two weeks, we cant get any worse. i know he is 39 but he is still 10 times more mobile than campbell or collins. if we put collins in prepare for the same results. landry sure isnt no taylor he should get out some old film and study it real hard watch how taylor played and form his game after taylors. to bad taylor isnt out there kicking landry in the a$$ and spitting in his face lol. hail 21 forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

why does this team suck so badly. im gonna have to start paying more attention to the caps and wizards, hell the nationals probably have a better shot at being good than this team. i guess the only realistic thing to look forward to is having a good draft pick. that is of course unless good old Danny doesn't trade it away for some washed up 30+ year old second string long snapper
