ESPN Says It'll Be Jason Campbell For MNF

The official word on this week's quarterback situation is still "TBD" -- which may actually be an acronym and not a word -- but ESPN's Matt Mosley, author of the always-informative NFC (B)East blog, begs to differ.
Jason Campbell will get the start at quarterback this week for the Washington Redskins, a league source told ESPN.com's Matt Mosley on Monday.
The Redskins play a high-profile Monday night game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Oct. 26.
As that high-profile game will take place on ESPN's Monday Night Football, their reporters are certainly going to be alert to stories that potentially have an effect on it.
That said, you'll still have to wait until sometime later this week -- no later than Thursday's practice -- to see if Mosley's unofficial word matches up with the official one. It's kind of like a lottery scratcher, only without the second chance drawing. Or the prizes.

Don't really understand the change at the QB in the first place, Jason is not the problem for us. If you really look at this situation with open mind it's our front office. My suggestion to synder is to come out and announce that Jim Zorn is the coach because at this point the coach himself needs a confidence boost.

"Contrary to a report, Washington Redskins Coach Jim Zorn has not made a final decision on a starting quarterback for Monday night's game against the Philadelphia Eagles at FedEx Field, league sources said late Monday night."
Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

"League Source" it could only be someone in the room for the meeting. Of course if the report is wrong Moseley will just say that Zorn changed his mind about who will start.

I wish everyone would realize that it is not Zorn and it is not Campbell that are our problems in DC. When you have an old, hurt, broken down offensive line - no quarterback is going to be able to perform the way he should.
Rather than beefing up an already solid defense the worthless GM and Owner should have been drafting and picking up O-lineman.
Zorn has been thrown in a horrible position and has done his best. If Campbell had a solid team behind him - or a real GM, we might get somewhere, but until that happens we will continue to lose.

If we have a solid o-line, we will win football games.. Period. Look at peyton and brady.. They succeed because their line is excellent. The better your line is, the better your QB can be. Our problem is we dont trade guys properly. We need to trade some guys that are worth some value. Basically right after they have crawled over their peak...For example- cartwright-betts-randle el just to name a few.. Then we can bring in solid o-lineman.. Come on front office, you have to realize these things. Safeties should never happen and are unexceptable. We have had what..2 - 3 safeties already. Needs to be a change hear. All other personel is there, we just need the protection to get them the ball.

I’m actually surprised, Lewis wasn't man enough to realize and say to Vin, "hey dumb ass I appreciate what your doing, but you do realize I have been here for 2 weeks. What do you think I will be able to do?" Synder also should have been smart here and used his "business sense" to put his foot down and say Vin, we may sleep together in the same bed, but what are you thinking, this makes no sense.....You know it's the same gig as having Gibbs back here. To old and out of touch with the game to make a truly positive impact. The players must be going crazy and are going to look even more confused come Monday.....You all keep saying stop blaming Zorn and JC. Granted it isn't all their fault, but what have you remotely seen to say that they are good palyer/ and HEAD COACH. Zorn I'm sure would actually be good for us with a different job title. The palyers do support him, but is that because they like the easy going attitude? And in a way, like to be lazy and collect the money? Look at the 2 work ethics during the offseason and training camps. Denver immediately went right at it and wore full pads 1st day of practice. They went from being projected terrible, to undefeated and having a red hot offense and defense. Look at us, all the players unanimously agreed during the preseason, that this was the easiest training camp in their ENTIRE football career. Zorn did not deny this, saying he wanted his guys healthy. Well Jim, health means nothing if your guys aren't prepared to play.....Now to JC....He has had more than enough time to settle into the NFL and he isn't cutting it. Don't you all see how every move he makes is so sloppy and ugly. And don't you see that dumbfounded look and lack of attitude and intensity on his face. He has no fire in his belly, and doesn't have a moxy about him that says I'm a fighter. Now, I'm not a fan of Mark Sanchez, but even after throwing 4 or 5 int's this week you best believe he was up by the stands on the sidelines pumping up the crowd. JC really is a 2nd QB and not a starter. Not to say Collins is a starter or we should put him in. We need a new QB ultimately, and it kind of makes me wonder why we didn't sign say Jeff Garcia to a one year deal. Yes he is old, but that’s why I said 1 year. The man has great mobility and knows the game. If we sign JC again, I'm not going to be raving mad, cause I actually think we need to solve other issues first such as the O-line. I believe in the NFL, you don't need the stud QB to win. An immediate example is Kyle Orton, not a stud QB, but he is getting the job done. And with the right coaching and the track he is on now, maybe he could be. Then look at Dilfer when the Ravens won the Super Bowl. Given the Ravens D was a work of art, but we also have potential to be a nasty D too. We are solid at D, but do not get enough sacks or turnovers....sorry for the rant, but I wanted to address the Lewis situation and really talk about the whole support of Zorn and JC and why they don't deserve the amount of recognition they are getting from some of you.

Should the Skins use their 1st & 2nd round picks for a o-linemen? I have a feeling they'll take a QB with one of them.

At this rate, I'm amazed that Zorn is trusted to make any decisions at all. Not through any fault of his. I agree with the growing sentiment that Zorn and Campbell aren't the cause of this team's woes. Given a more able-bodied O-line and some better communication, Zorn makes a decent coach. All too soon, people forget that with almost the same roster as last year, Zorn gave us an 8-8 season last year. It was the first year of a new offense scheme and it was certainly far better than any of us should have expected. I like Zorn, have since '82 when he was QBing for the Seahawks. He doesn't need to plant his foot in anyone's hindparts to gain the respect of this team (e.g. Mike Tomlin) although now with what the front office has done to him, it will be very difficult to regain whatever respect has been lost by the team or the fans. He has been neutered. You can't do that to a coach and expect him to remain effective. I don't want to take away from Sherman Lewis's accomplishments, but considering the environment he was plucked out of for the job he has (same thing that was done to Zorn), especially with members of the offense he's supposed to be calling plays for stating that he hasn't spent any real time with them, how is he supposed to effectively call plays? The recipe for the dismantling of this team is, very unfortunately, complete. It's too late for Snyder to take accountability. However, it's not too late for Snyder to do the right thing and fire Cerrato. I think Zorn KNOWS the game of football as does Campbell. I also think Campbell is more useful on the field than Todd Collins. The front office has successfully taken the confidence away from where we needed it most - our quarterback and our head coach. If we are to lose both Zorn and Campbell by the close of this season, then at least let Campbell play and have the opportunity to make a few decent plays so that he may go on to another team and be their backup.

Dear Jimmy,
Hey Jimbo! Mike here; I know you’re busy with packing so I won’t take up too much of your time. Moving can be so stressful. And it sure sucks that the running backs can’t help you pack up because you don’t entrust them to not drop all your stuff. I mean, geez, you must have boxes and boxes of trophies and such … I mean, well, at least a few ribbons or something. Anyway, on behalf of Redskins fans everywhere, I just wanted to say thanks for the memories:
For starters, not a lot of futbol Americano coaches even dare to rock the mock-neck turtleneck on the sidelines. Frankly, most men just can’t get away with it, but you my friend rock it and rock it well, week in and week out. Week 2 vs. the Rams in that burgundy mock-neck? Fuggadaboutit! Even the throwback yellow mock-neck versus the Lions AND the pink breast cancer Skins mock-neck. You’ve worn them all and worn them well.
And let’s talk spikes! No silly, not those spikes that some teams do after scoring a touchdown. Your hair! Best in the NFC, by far. What’s your secret, really? Mousse, gel, pomade, crew comb? I bet it’s crew comb. Whatever it is, it looks great every week. Wind, rain, and beaming sun – it stands strong to all of the elements and some say that’s what defines a man. The strength and prowess of his hair. One of the main problems we had with Joe Gibbs was that he was a pomade guy. With all those foolish Super Bowl rings in the way, he never could apply just the right amount from the can. Poor guy.
And just look at all you’ve done with Fed Ex Field! It used to be a nightmare getting in and out of that place with all the parking lots full and people everywhere. Now, it’s a nice place on most Sunday afternoons for area driver’s ed students to practice 3-point turns. And it is so nice to finally stretch out while I’m at a game; believe it or not there used to be a time where you had to sit in the seat right next to each other! It’s so much nicer to have 3, 4 even 5 seats to stretch out and comfortably watch the game. I sat in section 427 yesterday. The whole thing. Really, it makes so much more sense. So many teams count on team-colored clad fans to fill the seats of their stadiums and create a home-field advantage. But you: you know that, duh! –the seats are ALREADY painted burgundy and gold! Leaving them mostly empty creates an evenly distributed color tone across the entire stadium, perfect for HD viewers at home. And who doesn’t love symmetry in their color scheme? I do!
It’s no big deal that a bingo-caller is going to call the plays now. Happens all the time. My aunt Louise calls bingo down at the Elks Lodge on Main Street; the Bengals were looking at her hard for a defensive coordinator position back in ’97 but they weren’t lucky enough to nab her! So consider yourself lucky. And I totally get it that it’s not even your fault. Nobody told you that the play chart you’ve held for 22 weeks is upside down and that’s just not fair to you. At a bare minimum, would it have hurt the printer to add a ‘TOP’ and ‘BOTTOM’ to the chart? Cardboard boxes have it and it works quite well for UPS, does it not?
Probably you’re best move, by far, is the strong PR push to reel in the local DC soccer fan base. Involving the kicker(s) on as many plays as possible is a stellar choice! Starting with the first TD of the season, and then eliminating touchdowns altogether so we can focus solely on kicking. And, an intentional safety to close out yesterday’s game--and show us all THE BEST MOMENT IN SPORTS: the post-safety AWESOME-PUNT/OFF that kickers rarely get to do and fans crave all-the-while? Priceless Jim, priceless.
Take care of yourself buddy, you will be missed.
-Mike

How do people jump to the conclusion that Campbell is not the problem? He has done nothing but lead one of the worst scoring offenses in the league for 3 years, we were 28th in ppg last year and we are around the same this year. "Campbell is not the problem", are you guys serious, I 'll tell you what he is definitely not and thats the solution. So let me get this straight, Campbell gets 3 years to figure this qb thing out, Collins gets like 5 starts only because campbell is injured (and leads us to the playoffs)? I don't necessarily think Collins is the solution (would rather have other options), but this organization has had enough of Campbell, stop feeling sorry for this guy, he makes millions, he will be ok, he is not the future, this team really needs to stop holding on, same thing we did with Ramsey and the Ravens did with Boller. Plus we have had good defenses over the last 5 years, all these good defenses are just wasted with Campbell running the show........
Campbells hof career stats:
16-24
6 300 yard games (3 of them vs Detriot)
1 win by more then 8 points
1 3td game
2 30 point games
Collins stats for the skins:
4-1
0 300 yard games
3 wins by more then 8 points (other win was by 8 points)
23.8 ppg

Well see you are wrong there, Collins had 15 years in the same offense so it shows you don't know what you are talking about.

TC did not "lead" us to the POs. He also had the luxury of learning, practicing, playing in Saunders system for almost a decade. TC started for 3 wins in a 9 win season. Who won the other 5 games (TC replaced a injured JC midway through bears game WITH A LEAD)? Yet TC "led" us to the POs? JC gets no credit even though he was in his 1st year under Saunders?ROTFLMMFAO. JC had a 4 game win streak last year when the OL was healthy, 8 TDs ZERO TOs, and a 6-2 record after 8 gms. Guess what? When the OL was healthy/productive CP was the leading rusher. Another tidbit as to why this O sucks is: What's the 1st thing you do when you draft a QB? You draft OL/RB/WR to develop alongside that QB. It's been 5 years, still no help for the QB. Blame it on the FO. BTW, look at TCs career #s and you'll know why he is a backup.

OMG!!!! Jason Campbell had 8 tds and 0 ints over an 8 game span, wow, that is amazing, a whopping 1 td a game, Think if he was able to keep that up for the rest of the season and throw for 16!!!!! Wow 16 in one season, thats what I call production. Portis won those games, not Campbell, and then HOF Zorn decided to stop running the ball because it made to much sense, leaving it up to Campbell to score points, and shocker, he didn't....
Also, that game that Campbell got injured, Campbell went 10-16 100 yards, 0 td-0 ints, Collins went 15-20 224 yards 2 tds 0 ints in a 24-16 win, Campbell won that game????? We were 5-7 before that game, congrats Jason, thank you for winning the 5 games.........................and losing 7 (4 straight coming into that game). 5-7 is a great start to the season, my bad, Campbell is def the reason why we went to the playoffs in 2007. You are so right e-will, my bad, I now hope we give Campbell a 5 year deal before the seasons end.....

The wow is the 0 ints! The wow is being down 7 with six minutes in the game (against the seahawks in the playoffs) and Collins throws a pick six, his second of the game. Jason is the best qb on the team...as sad as that sounds.
