Phillip Daniels Has A High Pain Threshold

Posted by Matt Terl on October 12, 2009 – 5:06 pm

One thing head coach Jim Zorn really seems to enjoy in his weekly day-after-the-game press conferences is describing the injuries players have received. He’s rarely satisfied with your basic sprain/strain descriptors, and likes to go into loving, borderline-obsessive detail in his descriptions.

This can get pretty disgusting. Example A: today’s talk about Phillip Daniels.

If You're Looking For Something To Cheer For

Posted by Matt Terl on October 12, 2009 – 3:25 pm

Redskins fans probably didn’t find much to cheer for in Charlotte yesterday. The Redskins scored, yes, but only when the defense set them up with exceedingly short fields. But he got popped and he got some tingling and we’re just checking this out. So right now, he will NOT be available to play next week, just to quiet this thing down.”

Monday, October 12: What Are You Looking For?

Posted by Matt Terl on October 12, 2009 – 10:30 am

I was listening to Joe Theismann on ESPN 980 this morning, which was a real cheerful way to start the day. Theismann was critical of just about everything except for Virginia Tech football; not incorrectly so, mind you, but very bluntly and very critically.

During the relatively short amount of time that I was listening, Theismann correctly pointed out that the offense didn’t put together a touchdown drive of more than thirteen yards, that Brian Orakpo got beaten in coverage for a Panthers touchdown, and so on — the DC Sports Bog has helpfully transcribed the gory details — but he also said one thing that made me raise my eyebrows.
