Army-Navy Game Comes To FedExField

FedExField will be hosting college football's Army-Navy game on December 10, 2011.
The game, which traditionally closes out college football's season, has largely been held in Philadelphia, which sits just about between the two schools -- Army in West Point, NY, and the Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. FedExField's location in Landover obviously puts the game closer to Annapolis, but that hasn't always provided the pronounced an advantage for Navy you might expect.
The seven times the game has been played in Maryland, Navy is 4-3 -- a winning record, yes, but roughly consistent with Navy's overall 53-49-7 series record.
Redskins premium club customers will be able to purchase tickets to the game at a date to be determined closer to the actual event.
"We are honored that FedExField was awarded the Army-Navy game, one of the most prestigious matchups in all of college football," said Washington Redskins Chief Operating Officer Mitch Gershman in a statement. "Our leaders in Prince George's County – County Executive Jack B. Johnson and County Council Member Andrea Harrison – provided us with tremendous local support, for which we are extremely appreciative. We are proud to showcase the 112th edition of this significant rivalry, which will mark the culmination of an eventful and memorable week for our entire community."
