Kareem Moore's Draft Day, Byron Westbrook's Undraft Day

We’ve heard from Chris Cooley, who — despite not being a top-round selection — was eagerly watching the draft, waiting to hear his name. And from DeAngelo Hall, who was in the green room at the draft in New York with the other top prospects.

Safety Kareem Moore had a slightly different approach to his draft day. As a sixth rounder, he was selected on Sunday, the second day of last year’s draft, and he was decidedly not in front of the TV waiting to hear about it.

“I was out eating at Piccadilly,” he says, “me and my family, my son. So we were just out eating, got the call. Mr. Snyder, Coach Blache- want to be a Redskin? I was like ‘Yes! About time. Let’s get it over.'”

It wasn’t all sunshine and light, and not because Moore had hoped to be selected earlier. “It was kind of bittersweet because the next day I was on a plane to Alabama having surgery.” He shrugs.

“Got picked. It was a blessing.”

This is a fairly crucial point to make, that it’s a blessing just to have been picked, because sitting next to Moore on the couch as he talks is cornerback Byron Westbrook, who, well, wasn’t. Read more »

Friday, April 17: Clinton Portis Dances With Special Olympians

Clinton Portis yesterday participated in an NFL Players Association event, working out with Special Olympians on the football field at Catholic University. Since Clinton is Clinton, “working out” also includes “making fun of Ben Roethlisberger” and “working on touchdown dances with the kids”. And the video is much, much more entertaining because of it.

Great job by NBC-4 on the piece, and great job by Portis with the kids. Read more »
