Wednesday, March 18: Coach Zorn is Friendly, Brave

Blog reader Adam was out at the California Tortilla in Germantown this past weekend with the two high school basketball teams he coaches. Yep. Just thirty-odd kids on their way down to see the Wizards game. Picture the quiet, soothing atmosphere and gentle noise level that produced, just to begin with.

Then they spotted Coach Jim Zorn and his family at the next restaurant down in the shopping center, and, in Adam’s words, “All 30 or so guys wanted to run over and bombard the Zorns for autographs, pictures, etc.”

Adam, being a good coach, a responsible human being, and a Redskins fan, realized that a stampede of teenagers would likely not improve Zorn’s family dining experience and might result in actual bodily harm to the coach or innocent passers-by. So he went over himself to let Coach Zorn know what was going on next door. Read more »
