Friday, March 13: Revisiting Stadium Music

Posted by Matt Terl on March 13, 2009 – 11:33 am

Back in October, I wrote about a few of the songs that are played during pregame introductions at FedExField, which sparked some lively debate about the music choices. There wasn’t much I could do at the time — the playlist was largely set, and we were well into the season.

Well, there’s still not THAT much I can do, but I happened to find out the other day that this year’s song selections are being made as we speak. So I figured I’d toss it open to you all, with two basic questions:

  • What songs would you like to hear as part of the gameday experience?
  • What songs would you never like to hear again?

A few caveats to this whole thing, though. First, this is only about the in-stadium music, not the other elements of the gameday experience.

And second, this isn’t a contest. There’s no prize, and no guarantee that any suggestions will be accepted. But I absolutely promise to get the list of suggestions in front of the people who make the decisions, and from what I’ve seen I believe they’ll consider them.

So? Thoughts? I don’t really think my usual catch-all suggestion of Explosions In The Sky would get a crowd of 90,000 fired up, but a few of the other things I’ve put forward are after the jump.

List of Demands, Saul Williams. Hey, if it’s good enough for Nike, it’s good enough for me.

Oh, and the original Superman theme, just because it’s terrific. So there’s a few, just off the top of my head. Any suggestions?

What’s the name of the song played toward the end of the 4th quarter. It’s from some 70s movie or tv show.
