Rocky McIntosh Is Quirky, Business-Savvy, And A Good Student

A couple of weeks ago, Rocky McIntosh set up shop a cubicle not far from where I sit in Redskins Park. This wasn’t like when Antwaan Randle El made a couple of phone calls from the front desk and I joked that he was the receptionist; Rocky actually moved himself into the cube and decided it was his new office space.

There was no discernible reason for him to do this; he just showed up (wearing a red shirt, with matching glasses and watch), complained about how dirty the previous occupant had left the space, and put up some personal decorations.

Those decorations? One picture of Coraline — “That’s my girl,” he said — and one of a red Saturn — “That’s my car,” — both clipped from the newspaper. He also elected to display the office fantasy football trophy, which he borrowed from a desk across the hall.

No further explanation was given. Also, he put a piece of tape across the top of the monitor reading “Rocky’s Desk” and posted a printout of his NFL headshot.

Then he read the newspaper for a while and left. It was all very amusing, and that seemed like the end of it. Today, he showed back up, fresh from a program at Wharton Business School.

Intern Bridgette was on-hand with her camera to get his impressions of the program, of school in general, and of today’s NFL news.

I’ll be honest with you: as far as officemates go, you could do a whole lot worse. Rocky can stick around as long as he’d like, although he’d probably make an even better impression if he brought a candy dish. That never fails.
