Wednesday, January 14: Some Things Remain The Same
It's the offseason, a time that's generally about change. (Well, it's about wild speculation, unverified rumors, exuberant-bordering-on-irrational optimism, and change.) Changing coaches, finding new players, working out new approaches to the game ... those are the things we usually focus on once the players jet off to wherever they are.So it's sort of unusual that the best news to come out of Redskins Park thus far in 2009 is all about things that have remained the same. Jim Zorn remains the head coach, bringing some rare continuity to Jason Campbell's NFL life. Greg Blache returns to a defense that finished the season ranked fourth in the NFL in yards allowed per game and sixth in points allowed. Clinton Portis will be back after another stellar campaign.
And now the team announces that general admission season ticket prices (upper and lower bowl) will also remain the same, for the third consecutive year. It may seem like a small thing, but in this economic climate every little bit helps. The ticket waiting list remains as long as ever -- more than 200,000 people, according to chief operating officer Mitch Gershman -- so demand is still high.
Full press release after the jump.
NO INCREASE IN REDSKINS TICKET PRICES FOR THIRD STRAIGHT SEASON
ASHBURN, VA – The Washington Redskins announced today that general admission season ticket prices for the 2009 season would remain unchanged for the third straight year.
"We work hard to hold the line on price increases, and are obviously sensitive to the economic realities faced by our fans," said Mitch Gershman, the team's chief operating officer. "We have fantastic fan support as evidenced by the more than 200,000 people on our waiting list for season tickets, and we try hard to maintain price stability for the best fans in the NFL."
Since 1999, the team has increased ticket prices only twice (2000 and 2006), a rarity among U.S. sports franchises. General admission tickets currently range in price from $29 to $99. The team's season tickets have been sold out since 1966.
Mailing of season ticket renewals is scheduled to begin by the end of January. Once again, fans may access their "My Season Ticket Account" link at www.redskins.com to directly manage their accounts, including paying for tickets in a direct, secure manner.

I'll gladly pay double for season tickets under new ownership & w/ a new general manager.
Not raising prices on a crappy product is not kindness or goodwill, don't try and sell it as such.

Someone please tell me..... What has Vinny Cerrato done to deserve to get banged on by commentors on every blob???? Every GM has made good moves and bad moves, but Redskins fans seem to cry the blues about Vinny for some reason. Didn't he just take over as GM last year???? Get a grip people....
Go Skins!!!!!

Every time the topic of ticket prices comes up, I get a little bitter taste in my mouth. I'm a relatively new Club season ticket holder (this season was only my second season). I'm still well in the middle of my contracted annual price increases. Thats not really a problem though. I expected that. What I didn't expect was to be offered, by the team, single game tickets every week of the season for Club level for less than half the cost of my season seats! By the team. So..whats my incentive for being a club holder? Every week they offer to sell me tickets at far, far under my cost. Parking passes aren't hard to come by so...what exactly am I getting for my money being a Club ticket holder? Why not just buy the single game club tickets they offer me? I'd still be attending every game, in Club, but at significantly lowered cost. What exactly is my vastly higher cost per ticket through a club season package getting me?
Paint me a sucker.

There you have it Danny..Try and answer all questions on your own officail work blog... Bet ya dont respond. Dude..Get a clue..everything you touch is spoiling... No one and I mean NOONE likes or respects Vinny as GM, NO One likes that mouthpiece Homer Larry Micheals... No one liked your Tom Cruise movie, No one likes Six Flaggs, and I sometimes like Jonny Rockets, and Matt Terl..But thats it. Make a mends with the fan base... Try to at least look like you care. Stop firing people!!!!!!!.um I think you'll still be able to heat your mansion in the winter and have maids and butlers to help you and the Mrs. out when Tom Cruise drops by. Hire Morraco Brown for GM, and let him actually draft for need versus Vinny not dratfing for need..I could go on for hrs how you should change but your a dictator who will not listen to the masses

Ha ha ha..Are you kidding me? Been a fan long Wayne or just started this year? Look at Vinny's record while hes been here..I'm guessing that you are really Vinny or a Skins employee, posting as someone else, because a real fan knows what Vincents done to this team. Even when Vinnys been interviewed , he has said that when he went to functions with the Danny and Gibbs they would make fun of him saying he is responsible for the losses and Gibbs was responsible for the wins..And Vinny just would stand there and take it..I guess I would too, if it meant having a million dollar job, and no credentails except to be a yes man.
Wayne.. or what ever Skins employee you are (Larry Micheals)..You sir are an idiot
